The Nova is a secondary weapon collected during the Cronus Frontier missions. It is a slow firing high damage missile that releases tracking plasma bolts when it explodes. This is a very high damage weapon that can take out multiple enemies at once. Upgrades to the Nova increase damage and tracking of the plasma bolts. Multiplayer version of the Nova is a modified version of the Base.
Base: Medium explosion with target-tracking energy blobs. Max ammo of 5.
Plus (+): Higher damage (~10%), better blob tracking, and faster speed (~50%)
Extra Blobs (XB): Higher blob damage (~10%), more blobs (50%) and more max ammo (up to 10)
Cluster (CL): Fast explosion, better tracking, higher damage (~10%), more max ammo (up to 10)

AFTER YEARS OF RESEARCH INTO PLASMA-BASED EXPLOSIVES, THE NOVA PROJECT WAS SCHEDULED TO END DUE TO LACK OF PROGRESS IN 2115. A LEAK OF THE THEN-SECRET REFLEX CANNON RESEARCH APPEARS TO HAVE HELPED THE ENGINEERING TEAM MAKE SOME LAST-MINUTE ADJUSTMENTS. A WORKING PROTOTYPE WAS DELIVERED 2 DAYS BEFORE THE SCHEDULED CLOSURE, BUT THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK WAS NEVER DISCOVERED. THE REFLEX DESIGN TEAM INSISTS THE LEAK WAS FABRICATED AND THEIR SYSTEMS WERE HACKED.
